“Winter Whites”

Following the holiday season, many department stores typically offer a ‘Winter White Sale’ to spur additional January spending. Floral retailers can ride that same wave of advertising by offering a similar sales promotion for the month of January.

Consider running a ‘Winter White Sale’ of your own by featuring collections of white flowers paired with seasonal branches, berries, and foliages. While department stores are featuring bedding, linens, and towels, you can feature many wonderful collections of winter whites, greens and gray tones. While not all of the country is blanket in snow, choosing this snowy palette provides a nice relief from the intense saturation of Christmas past.

White Roses, Lilies, Carnations and Alstroemeria are flowers most people are very familiar with. What a great time to broaden the mix by adding in Dendrobium Orchids, Lisianthus, and Star of Bethlehem. Most people recognize Tulips and Hyacinth as a traditional herald of spring. This can be a time to ease them into a spring mind-set by featuring mono-botanical stylings of Hyacinths or Tulips collared with interesting foliages such as Seeded Eucalyptus or Naked Silver Bell Eucalyptus. Milky Way Aspidistra or Snow on the Mountain provides a visually interesting contrast of green and white color as well. Silver Leaf and Lamb’s Ear add a soft touch of gray color and for a slightly more upscale and contemporary client, consider adding White Allium, Callas, and Obake Anthurium to the offering. Berzillia Berries, Hypericum, and Pussy Willow add the finishing touches to Winter’s Fabulous Whites!
