Florabundance Holland Design Days 2016

We are excited to announce a Holland Inspirational Design Days Event!

Here at Florabundance we believe in making the learning process of floral design fun and interesting by hosting events in spectacular locations that encourage inspiration, creativity and collaboration. We would like to invite professional floral designers to join us April 22-27, 2016 for an unique and unforgettable experience in the world’s flower capital – Holland.

We will arrive in Amsterdam on Friday, April 22, 2016. That evening be treated to a sunset cruise around the famed Amsterdam canals while enjoying drinks and appetizers.

Rise and shine the next morning and be whisked off to view the Bloemen Corso (flower parade). Yes, a flower parade! The annual Bollenstreek Flower Parade takes place thru the bulb fields and often includes 20 floats and 30 wagons richly decorated with flowers. The 2016 theme is Flowers & Fashion.
Next we visit the Black Tulip Museum and learn about the introduction of the tulip to the Netherlands in 1594. At one time tulip bulbs were worth more than gold!
We will visit with Master Floral Designer Els Hazenberg AIFD and enjoy a private exhibit of her botanical oil paintings. Well known floral designer, Els, has been a Rose Parade judge and an active floral designer in the US for over 35 years in AFS.

Sunday we will enjoy a day strolling around the stunning Keukenhof Gardens, filled with beautiful display gardens and floral design installations. For those of you that have dreamed of riding a bike thru the tulip fields, your dream will come true on this day! An optional bike ride will be available!

Monday will be every Floral Designer’s dream! We hit the ground running with a visit to the must-see Aalsmeer Flower Auction! Visit the trendy supply house PTMD and be inspired by the latest in Dutch hard goods. And, enjoy a personal tour and lunch with Dutch Flower exporter, Holex.

Monday afternoon we will begin our design sessions with the amazing floral designer Ariella Chezar! Ariella will be presenting a hands-on floral design workshop of Bridal Bouquets, A Dutch Masters inspired table arrangement, and a large scale floral arrangement.

Monday evening we will dine in a converted greenhouse – Restaurant De Kas. The greenhouse had been abandoned and was slated for demolition when top chef Gert Jan Hageman took over the property and turned it into a beautiful restaurant which specializes in working with local ingrediants.

On Tuesday our hands-on design time continues with Ariella Chezar. The day will be spent at the converted greenhouse Arendshoeve, the perfect location to be inspired in! Ariella will continue her demonstration of Bridal Bouquets, A Dutch Masters inspired table arrangement, and a large scale floral arrangement.
